Farm FAQs
Blooming Questions
How many acres do you farm?
Our acreage is a mighty 2 acres. Our flower event space is roughly 6,000 square feet and we have a smaller flower field (approx. 800 square feet).
What kind of flowers do you grow?
The real question is, what flowers don't we grow? We grow as much as one person can handle with over 40 different varieties of flowers in one season. I hope that tickles your fancy. This includes, but is not limited to sunflowers, peonies, dahlias, celosia, love-in-a mist, snapdragons, strawflower and basil. Most of our flowers are not those that you would typically find in the grocery store. We strive to grow unique, specialty varieties that blow your vase life outta the water compared to that damn grocery store flower!
Do your flowers have any chemicals on them?
No, we are so happy to say we a chemical-free property (because that shit's nasty). We use compost tea to help with insect and bugs who love our flowers a little too much. Most of all though, we try our best to work with nature and for the majority, we do companion planting with herbs and a few veggies in our flower gardens.
Where do you sell your flowers?
We sell them direct to our customers through subscriptions or custom orders. We also sell through PUREARTH ORGANICS - located downtown Red Deer (5589 47th street #110).
Do you offer farm tours?
Unfortunately at this time, we do not offer tours due to the busy farm schedule (it's called life, ugh). Our property is private and closed to the public.
Do you allow photography sessions at the farm?
Yes, we LOVE working with professional photographers on the farm. We book minimum of two weeks out for any photography session. A location fee is charged per visit. If your looking to book at the farm, shoot us an email uchtenhagenfarm@gmail.com or slide into our DM's.
I've booked a Sip and Snip, what can I expect on the property?
Expect that our farm is exactly that, a farm. We have bugs, mosquitos, mud, irrigation, and rough terrain just like anywhere else really. Note, we love dogs but cannot accommodate for customers bringing other dogs on our property because our chickens don't like to stay in their corral (sorry, they are untrainable)!
What's your coffee order?
Oh wow, thanks for asking! My fav and only fav is a half sweet vanilla bean latte from Second Cup. None of that Starbucks BS.
